HexGen and Hex2Spline: Polycube-Based Hexahedral Mesh Generation and Spline Modeling for Isogeometric Analysis Applications in LS-DYNA

In this paper, we present two software packages, HexGen and Hex2Spline, that seamlessly integrate geometry design with isogeometric analysis (IGA) in LS-DYNA. Given a boundary representation of solid model, creates hexahedral mesh by utilizing semi-automatic polycube-based generation method. Hex2Spline takes the output from as input control constructs volumetric truncated hierarchical splines. Through Bézier extraction, transfers spline information to LS-DYNA performs IGA therein. We explain underlying algorithms each package use rod model how run software. also apply our several other complex models test its robustness. Our goal is provide robust modeling tool thus expand volume-based industrial applications.
